Dr.Sketchy's RoadShow passed through San Jose Wednesday night and my lovely wife, daughter and myself drove down to the South Bay to sketch.

I'll be set up in the J Street parking lot not too far from First Street.
I'll have "Jinx Laced Up", prints of my "Pumpkin Witch", "I Dream of Tiki" and "Tiki Dance of Desiré" and other work. I'll be drawing caricatures and have a "Pumpkin Patch" on display!

I used left over, lying around for ages mat board and scraps of illustration board to create my pumpkin pieces.

11:11 am - Livermore Artwalk 2009 Banner Auction

I painted this in August. It's my first acrylic since high school.
The banner is hanging on 2nd Street between J and K Streets near Tommie's Deli in Livermore, CA 94550.
The banners will be auctioned off as a fundraiser for the Bothwell Arts Center on October 10.

8:43 am - Here's another of the CARtoons.
|
They took a lot longer than I thought to draw. First the research, then sketches, then redraws, more adjustments, transfering to a nice clean sheet of bristol, final pencils and then ink. I could have just used a marker and drawn them loose in about 1/10th of the time, but the results would not have been as satisfying personally.

My friend Shannon will be drawing 9AM-1PM Saturday.
They had me create some drawings for the bottom of the page.

"Laced Up" is 16x20", "The Immortal" is 20x30", and "Peepshow" is 16"x20" (left to right).
They are watercolor, brush & ink, and paint markers on foamcore. "Peepshow" also has color pencil (the pink stripes on the stockings).

12:11 am - My final image for Garter Belts and Gasoline was finished Thursday!

Thursday morning around 5AM.
This one is titled "Peepshow". It features Bettina May and go-go Amy of Pretty Things Productions. I noticed their tour was coming through the Bay Area in June and set up an appointment to draw and shoot them.
I delivered the 3 pieces to Seaside around noon that afternoon.
That evening my lovely wife, the boy (who's birthday it was - 23rd), the girl, and myself went to Cobb's Comedy Club in SF to see Arj Barker. Great show!

The model is Jinx. I had a session with her where in I drew about 6 different poses and took photos and this is the one that stood out to me.
